The banking sector has a long history of partnering with the Canadian Red Cross to raise funds for relief efforts during disasters. In additional to their own corporate donations, banks often make their branch networks available to accept financial donations from the public in support of Red Cross relief efforts in emergency situations both in Canada and internationally.
Across Canada, banks have rallied to support communities affected by extreme weather events for many years, including the devastating impact of flooding and fires in Alberta, British Columbia and the Northwest Territories, Nova Scotia and the Atlantic Region, and Eastern Canada.
Banks have also helped Canadians contribute to major international relief efforts by accepting donations in-branch to support Red Cross operations in Ukraine, the Middle East, Morocco and Libya, Turkiye and Syria, and Pakistan.
Beyond individual relief campaigns, banks may also support the Red Cross and other local community organizations to help strengthen emergency preparedness and response services across the country
