Overview

The Director, Strategy & Execution serves as the embedded strategy and execution partner to policy leads supporting the development and execution of plans that deliver on our policy priority objectives. Reporting to the Vice-President, Strategy & Engagement, the role translates strategic priorities into integrated and coordinated action through planning, project management, risk and issues tracking, and internal stakeholder engagement. The Director is accountable for supporting the successful development and execution of assigned policy delivery plans and TOs while also contributing to enterprise strategic planning, special projects, performance monitoring and measurement, and organizational effectiveness initiatives across the CBA.

Description of responsibilities

Strategy & execution partner to policy lead

  • Serve as the primary strategy and execution partner to policy leads, providing oversight and execution support throughout the lifecycle of the policy priority plans
  • Support the identification and development of strategic priorities, key dependencies, resource requirements, and performance measures required to achieve policy target outcomes
  • Translate strategic objectives into actionable work plans, implementation roadmaps, and execution frameworks that support successful delivery
  • Coordinate activities across policy, operations, and supporting teams to ensure alignment, collaboration, and timely execution of strategic initiatives
  • Monitor progress, identify risks, issues, and dependencies that may impact delivery, and identify where mitigation strategies may be required
  • Participate in committee meetings and strategic sessions, documenting decisions, commitments, action items, and key outcomes

Performance measurement and reporting

  • Contribute to the development and execution of the CBA's corporate strategy and annual planning processes, ensuring alignment between strategic priorities, target outcomes, and organizational objectives
  • Support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of enterprise KPI frameworks and performance measures to monitor organizational effectiveness and strategic progress
  • Track, analyze, and report on progress against strategic priorities, target outcomes, and key initiatives, identifying performance trends, risks, opportunities, and areas requiring management attention

Strategic initiatives and special projects

  • Lead or support strategic projects, enterprise initiatives, and special assignments that advance the CBA's strategic priorities and organizational objectives
  • Support organizational effectiveness, governance, operating model, and business transformation initiatives by identifying opportunities for improvement, facilitating stakeholder engagement, and contributing to implementation efforts
  • Support the preparation of materials for the Board of Directors, Senior Committees, and Executive Leadership Team

Key qualifications, abilities and skills:

  • Graduate degree in Business Administration or a related field. A graduate degree (MBA or equivalent) and/or professional designation is an asset
  • 8-10 years of progressively senior experience in strategy and strategy roles, management consulting, portfolio management, strategic planning or a related field, with demonstrated experience leading complex initiatives from planning through execution
  • Working experience in the financial services or consulting sector
  • Working experience in AI – specifically the governance activities and framework for an organization
  • Proven ability to translate strategic priorities into actionable plans, establish clear performance measures, and drive execution through cross-functional teams in a complex stakeholder environment
  • Experience managing multiple initiatives simultaneously, monitoring progress, managing risks, and ensuring accountability for results
  • Demonstrated experience supporting senior leaders through the preparation of strategic reports and decision-support documentation
  • Experience developing and implementing performance measurement frameworks, key performance indicators (KPIs), dashboards, and reporting processes to support strategic decision-making and organizational performance management
  • Excellent interpersonal, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build credibility, influence outcomes, and establish effective working relationships across all levels of the organization
  • Knowledge of public policy environment is considered an asset
