Overview
The Director, Fraud Prevention Awareness & Education for the Association is a new and pivotal role responsible for
steering anti-scam and fraud awareness and education as well as creating linkages between other CBA efforts
including financial literacy, and stakeholder education. They will understand the banking sector and bring
experience and curiosity to build collaboration and synergies with a range of partners and stakeholders to promote
anti-scam and fraud awareness to help protect Canadians and the Canadian economy. This leadership role will ensure
the anti-scam and fraud prevention campaigns are effective at advancing a cross-sectoral message to diverse
audiences.
Description of Responsibilities
- Working with the leadership team and key vendors, the successful candidate will ensure that we execute a
strategic, efficient and collaborative approach to increasing Canadians’ awareness of how to prevent, respond
and educate themselves about scams and fraud.
- Working collaboratively with the CBA team and stakeholders from a diverse range of public and private sectors,
the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in driving strategy and execution on education and awareness
efforts to help protect Canadians and the Canadian economy from scams and fraud.
- The candidate will bring a blend of marketing, communications and education savvy and an agile approach to
campaign work.
- Galvanized by the opportunity to block bad actors and protect Canadians from scams and fraud, this candidate
will become a sought-after expert on how different sectors and jurisdictions approach anti-scam and fraud
prevention. They will be energized by the art of the possible to leverage and evolve existing efforts to benefit
a wider audience.
- Through collaboration with Strategy, Marketing & Communications team, the candidate will ensure that the CBA’s
financial literacy efforts (including Your Money) continue to evolve and amplify anti-scam and fraud prevention
messages.
- In addition to building out awareness and prevention efforts related to scams and fraud, the candidate will
work with a range of sectors including law enforcement and the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre to look for
opportunities to promote and increase reporting and enforcement.
Measurement and activation
- Work with stakeholders to develop, deploy and track relevant metrics to help guide and evolve awareness efforts.
- Review of current key performance indicators used by participants; provides recommendations to enhance and align
for effectiveness and tracking of outcomes.
- Contribute to the use of data analytics tools to track campaign performance and prepare reports to evaluate the
effectiveness of marketing initiatives.
Public policy
- Working with the policy and government relations, this role will shape messaging and help inform strategy on how the
CBA communicates its anti-scam and fraud prevention work.
Sponsorships
- Identifies potential strategic sponsorship opportunities aligned with anti-scam and fraud prevention program and
organizational goals and target outcomes; executes and supports as appropriate.
Executive / Internal support
- Liaises with the CBA’s internal team and develops communications, marketing and educational collateral and campaigns
to ensure internal teams are appropriately informed on plans, milestones and progress.
- Executive communications and events support including social media, et cetera.
Key Qualifications, Abilities and Skills
- 10 plus years’ experience in a communications/marketing function. Experience leading public awareness and
educational initiatives, with a strong track record in cross-sector collaboration and stakeholder engagement.
Proven ability to develop and execute multi-channel campaigns aimed at diverse audiences.
- Experienced managing matrixed projects.
- Solid experience and understanding of corporate branding and knowledge of its use to amplify an organization’s
message.
- Demonstrated relationship management skills, leadership ability and team management experience, with exceptional
organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent writing skills with a proven track record developing and managing communications planning and
producing high-quality materials.
- Social media-savvy with experience designing and executing digital communications strategies.
- The ability to provide sound communications advice to a group of senior executives from diverse sectors.
- Strong bias to action and collaboration.
